A Word of Caution

Due to their extreme popularity a lot of lace front wig vendors and scam artist are springing up on the internet and ebay in order to make a quick buck. Do not waste your money on dirt cheap lace front wigs and full lace wigs as although the price may be tempting you will get what you pay for (if you get it at all ). Many cheap lace wigs are massed produced by a machine as opposed to being custom made and crafted by skilled lace wig makers who hand tie each individual hair strand to the lace wig base. Cheap lace front wigs generally are constructed poorly, will fall apart easily and are made using low quality hair that will most likely tangle and shed. Remember the saying "if it's too good to be true then it usually is." You should only buy your lace wig from a reputable company.

Measurements

A-List Lace Hair wigs, custom made lace hair systems, full lace wigs and lace front wigs are deigned for the perfect fit therefore measuring your head for your full lace wig is very important. Getting these measurements down correctly will be the key to your satisfaction with your custom made lace wig or lace frontal. Our lace wig makers will ventilate your lace wig to the specifications you provide and adjustments cannot be made once production starts. The greatest advantage is that you will have control over getting the best fit including matching the full lace wig hairline to your own for an amazing effect. See clear simple instructions below.

1. The Circumference of the Head:
This measures the distance around your head. Starting at the centre of the front hairline, place the tape flat against your head, going just above the ear towards the back of the head, keeping the tape at the nape of your neck and go around to the opposite side of your head, just above the opposite ear and returning to the centre of the front hairline. ( Average measurement is 22.5 inches )

2. From Forehead to Nape of Neck
This measures the length of your head from the front to the nape of your neck. To determine where the nape of your neck is, tilt your head back and look up. Where your neck bends and may even develop a skin fold, is where your nape is. You want the bottom of the lace wig to sit right above this area so that when you do tilt your head back that far, your lace wig will not shift on your head. This area is often right at the occipital bone, but be sure to take the measurement with your neck bent down so that you are looking at your shoes. Starting at the front hairline, measure directly across the middle top of your head to the area that you have determined is your nape. Keeping in mind that your lace cap is glued to the outside perimeter of your natural hairline on your skin. ADD 1 inch to the measurement results. This is VERY IMPORTANT. If you do not add the inch, your lace wig will be too small and will not be able to be glued in front of your hairline. *If you are bald, do not add 1 inch. ( Average measurement is 14.5 inches )

3. Ear to Ear Across Front Hairline:
This measures your temple to temple length for tape tab placement. Place tape at your temple, just in front of your ear, bring tape up towards the top of the head and go 1.5 inch behind the front hairline, down to the opposite temple in front of the opposite ear. ( Average measurement is 12 inches )

4. From Ear to Ear Over Top of Head
This measures your head for the top of the lace wig base. Place tape against your head at the top edge of your ear and go directly across the top of your head to the top edge of the opposite ear. ( Average measurement is 13 inches )

5. Point to Point:
From temple to temple across the back of head. Note: Place the tape measure at your temple to temple point on each side of your head as shown in the picture. Keeping in mind that your lace wig is glued to the outside perimeter of your natural hairline in this area as well. Then ADD 1 inch to the measurement results. This is VERY IMPORTANT. If you do not add the inch, your lace wig will be too small and will not be able to be glued in front of your hairline. *(If you are bald, do not add 1 inch.) Average measurement is 14.5 inches )

6. Nape of Neck
This measures the width of your neck. Place tape at the lowest point on the bone behind your ear (mastoid bone) and measure across the neck to the opposite mastoid bone.(Average measurement is 5 inches )

Please remember that you must measure your head in the same condition as you will wear it under the lace wig and you want to get your hair as flat as possible. That means if you plan to prepare your hair in braids to wear the lace wig, you must take your measurements with your hair prepared in braids. You will also need a cloth or plastic tailoring tape measure that is flexible in order to take your measurements in inches. Do not pull the tape too tight, but it should be a snug fit. We recommend measuring at least 3 times to assure accuracy, as your lace wig will be constructed based only on the measurements you provide. We also recommend to start & end the measurements approximately 1/4 inch beyond your hairline to ensure that when glued, your lace wig will adhere to your skin and not directly on your hairline.

Lace Base Colour
When picking out a lace wig colour, remember that the skin on our scalp is usually lighter in colour than the rest of our complexion (our scalp is usually hidden from the sun). We carry most of our stock lace wigs in the light to medium brown lace because it is the most versatile. The light brown lace has just a hint of colour, which can work for tan persons to medium brown coloured persons. Another point to consider is that once glued down, the lace gets wet and is a little darker. That's why the light brown lace can work well for both light brown and medium brown skin tones. Once glued down, it "disappears" against one's skin. This is all about camouflaging, and not about matching exactly.

Light Lace – This is best for those with the lightest skin tone

Light brown lace- This colour is the most versatile for tan, light brown or medium brown skin tones. Even though the model is medium brown skinned, the light brown camouflages best picking up on the yellow undertones in her skin. Once glued down, this lace will disappear to the eye.

Medium brown lace- This colour works best for medium brown and dark brown skin tones, but also is chosen by light to medium brown skin person.

Dark brown lace- For dark brown skin tones
